On the byline

Pieces on The Deep Feed are unsigned. We made that choice on purpose. AI coverage right now runs on personal brands. Most working analysts pick a thesis and then defend it because their audience expects them to. We’d rather argue what the evidence supports today, change our mind tomorrow if it’s wrong, and not feel any pressure to hold the line on a take we no longer believe.

A single byline also forces a single voice. Reporting, drafting, line-editing, and fact-checking are done by different people, but what gets published reads like one publication thinking out loud.

Anonymity has been used to dodge accountability before, so we run this page, the conflicts disclosures, and a public corrections log to make sure dodging isn’t available to us. When a piece is wrong the publication is wrong, and the publication is the one that has to fix it.

If you have reason to know who wrote a particular piece (you’re quoted in it, for instance, or it’s about your company), write to hello@thedeepfeed.ai and we’ll tell you on a confidential basis.

Ownership

The Deep Feed is owned and operated independently. We are not part of a media holding company. We are not the content arm of a venture fund. We are not the comms operation of an AI lab. There are no outside investors with any editorial say.

Funding

Self-funded. No advertising. No sponsored posts. No affiliate links. No paid placements. No press releases run as content. No “in partnership with” pieces.

The newsletter is free today. If a paid tier launches, you’ll see it on this page before you see it anywhere else.

Conflicts of interest

People who work on The Deep Feed sometimes hold equity, advisory roles, or consulting relationships with AI companies. It would be difficult to cover this industry honestly without that exposure. The discipline is that any such relationship is disclosed inline at the top of any piece that touches it. There are no immaterial carve-outs.

Active conflicts are listed at the bottom of this page and updated when a relationship begins or ends.

Sources and attribution

Every long-form piece ships with a sources block at the bottom: primary documents, interview tapes, dataset URLs, and the secondary coverage we relied on. When a link rots, we replace it with an archive snapshot rather than let it 404. When a source spoke on background, the piece will say so. We won’t paraphrase background words to make them look on the record.

Corrections

Every error we publish is corrected in place and logged at thedeepfeed.ai/corrections , with the original wording preserved. We don’t silently edit. The log is empty when we have nothing to log. The page exists either way.

AI in the production process

We use AI tools the way most working newsrooms do: transcript summarization, code analysis, search, copy-editing. Drafts produced by a model are rewritten before publication. No sentence ships under our byline that a human editor hasn’t signed off on, and the publication is accountable for whatever ships.

Banner illustrations are AI-generated with human art direction. We treat that like any other production decision: if the policy changes, it shows up here.
