On the byline

Articles on The Deep Feed are not signed by their writer. The publication is the byline. This is a deliberate editorial choice, made for two reasons.

One: AI coverage in 2026 is dominated by personal brands. Most working analysts have a thesis and a follower count, and the thesis is usually whichever one keeps the follower count growing. We’d rather a piece argue what the evidence supports, then move on, without the writer having to defend the same argument tomorrow because their audience expects it.

Two: a single byline forces a single voice — the one we edit toward. Different people contribute reporting, drafting, line-editing, and fact-checking, but the published voice is constant. The reader knows what they are getting and from whom: not a personality, a publication.

The trade-off is that anonymity has historically been used to dodge accountability. We mitigate that with the rest of this page: the ownership, the funding, the conflicts policy, and a corrections page that logs every error we publish. If a piece is wrong, the publication is wrong, and the publication corrects it.

Ownership

The Deep Feed is owned and operated independently. It is not part of any media holding company, venture fund’s content arm, or AI lab’s communications operation. There are no outside investors with editorial input.

Funding

The site is self-funded. We accept no advertising, no sponsored content, no affiliate links, and no paid placements. We do not run press releases. We do not write “in partnership with” pieces. The newsletter is free; if a paid tier launches, we will say so on this page.

We are open to paying readers in the future. We are not open to paying advertisers, ever, on the editorial pages. If that changes, this page changes first.

Conflicts of interest

People who work on The Deep Feed sometimes hold equity, advisory roles, or consulting relationships with AI companies — it would be hard to cover this industry honestly without that exposure. When we publish a piece that touches a company we have a financial or personal stake in, that conflict is disclosed inline at the top of the piece, in a hairline-bordered note. No exceptions, no “immaterial” carve-outs.

A standing list of disclosed conflicts is maintained at the bottom of this page and updated whenever a relationship begins or ends.

Sources and attribution

Every deep piece carries a sources block at the bottom — primary documents, interviews, dataset URLs, and the secondary coverage we relied on. If a link rots, we replace it with an archived version rather than letting it 404. If a source spoke on background, the piece will say so without naming them; we will not paraphrase their words to pretend they were on the record.

Corrections

Every error we publish is corrected in place and logged at thedeepfeed.ai/corrections with the original wording preserved. We don’t silently edit. The log is empty when we have nothing to log; the page exists either way.

AI in the production process

We use AI tools the way most working publications do — for transcript summarization, code analysis, search, and copy-editing. We do not publish AI-generated prose under the byline. Every sentence on this site has been written or substantially rewritten by a human editor, and the publication is accountable for it. Banner illustrations are AI-generated with human art direction; if that ever changes, this page changes first.
